Charlie Chaplin's Little Tramp made his first appearance to the public in this film but was actually filmed for the first time as Little Tramp in Mabel's Strange Predicament which was released days after Kid Auto Races At Venice (AKA The Pest).

In this short film, Charlie purposely gets in the way of the cameras trying to film the race, as well as, the cars in the race. The race was actually real (Junior Vanderbilt Cup) and Chaplin performed as the Little Tramp in front of the actual spectators. Watch Charlie perform as the Little Tramp in front of a live audience who had no idea what they were seeing. A fun piece of silent film history.
